Brigadier General, USA (Retired) Matt Brand is a specialist in foreign and national security policy, working for the last fifteen years in senior policy positions with DOD, most recently as the lead of Strategic Plans and Policy for NATO’s Allied Command-Transformation. One of the Army’s most accomplished Foreign Area Officers, General Brand led America’s military activities in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Pakistan, often in competition with Russia’s national objectives. He was DOD’s eyes on the ground during the Russo-Georgian War in 2008. He was awarded the Sliver Star for gallantry in Operation Desert Storm, and has a Masters in Russian from Stanford University.
