Yunis Gurbanov

Yunis Gurbanov holds a BA in Art Management and an MA in International Relations from the Azerbaijani State University, an MA in Governance and Political Studies from the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, an LL.M. in European Law from the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg, a Master of Public Administration from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University in New York City, and a PhD in Political Science from the University of Cologne, Germany. Furthermore, he holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Peaceful Coexistence: Reinforcing Peace, Human Rights and Development from the UN-mandated University for Peace (UPEACE) and GIOYA HEI.
He has taught and tutored at the Institute for International Politics and Foreign Policy at the University of Cologne and at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He has conducted research and worked at Columbia University in New York City and at Harvard University. He has professional experience across state, non-state, and academic institutions in Azerbaijan, Germany, and the United States. His latest published book is “Geopolitics and Energy Diplomacy in the Caspian Region: Developments after the Downfall of the Soviet Union.”
